Capital markets fundraising jumps 60% in 2021, to R$596bn

Offerings in Brazil’s capital markets reached R$596 billion in 2021, up 60% from 2020, when the pandemic hit and brought a more uncertain economic outlook. December saw R$78.5 billion in fundraising led by FIDCs, with offerings totaling R$26.3 billion. The amount raised in December was the largest for this asset class in 2021, totaling R$85.3 billion in the entire year, more than double the figure seen in 2020.Public Offerings - FIDCs.png

Debentures also outperformed with R$28.7 billion raised in December, amounting to R$253.4 billion in 2021. Like FIDCs, the annual figure was the double of that raised in 2020. As for allocations in 2021, there were no significant changes compared to the previous year. Working capital (33.3%), refinancing of liabilities (22%) and investment in infrastructure (21.2%) remain as top investment destinations. Intermediaries and other participants linked to offerings, which before accounted for 64.3% of debenture subscribers, ended the year with a 45.4% share of issuances in 2021, followed by investment funds - which went from 23.5% in 2020 to 38.6% last year.

Also in the fixed-income market, CRIs and CRAs offerings reached all-time highs for a single month in 2021. Real Estate Receivables Certificates raised R$6.9 billion, totaling R$34 billion last year, more than double the amount raised in 2020. Agribusiness Receivables Certificates attracted R$4.6 billion in December, ending 2021 with R$23.1 billion, 52% more than the figure raised in the previous year.Public Offerings - CRI and CRA.png

As for the international market, there was a single share offering which raised $2.8 billion.
