A CPA-20 se destina a certificar Profissionais das Instituições Participantes que atuam na prospecção, e venda de produtos de investimento ou / e na manutenção de carteira de investimentos de clientes pessoas físicas ou jurídicas, atendidas nos segmentos Varejo Alta Renda, Private Banking, Corporate e Investidores Institucionais. A necessidade de obtenção da certificação está relacionada às atividades desenvolvidas (comercialização ou influências no processo de tomada de decisão do investidor) e não aos 'cargos’.
