The results of the Association’s certification
and training programs reflect the efforts of the
associated institutions and those adhering to
ANBIMA’s Codes in a commitment to constantly
improve their business practices, especially with
regard to meeting the needs of investors, who
increasingly have access to more alternatives for
service and investment products. Another pillar
of ANBIMA’s commitment to investors is formed
by the Association’s education initiatives.
ANBIMA maintains projects to encourage
scientific research about the capital market,
support the financial education initiatives
of Brazilian public bodies and promote its
own initiatives in order to contribute to the
education of investors.
The initiatives for investor training are organized
under the umbrella of “Como Investir”,
ANBIMA’s website for investor education,
which provides access to a wide range of
content on all the investment products offered
in the retail segment, with information about
the products’ features, their return and risks
involved. In 2011, the Investor Education
Committee approved a broad overhaul of
the website, in order to make browsing more
user friendly and to provide access to more
interactive content, such as videos, chats and
challenges. Next on the agenda of the Investor
Education Committee, are partnerships with the
universities and development of a virtual library
of topics related to investments, which should
be developed in 2012.
The two awards granted by the Association,
which are aimed at encouraging academic
research on the market, have also been
consolidated as two of the main competitions
for researchers in the segment. The Capital
Market Award, which celebrated its 7
th
edition
in 2011, is organized in partnership with Iepe/
CdG (Institute for Economic Policy Studies/
Casa das Garças), focused on three masters
projects and one doctorate project during the
year and surprised the board of examiners by
the high quality of work submitted. The Fixed
Income Award, in partnership with the SBFin
(
Brazilian Society of Finance), awarded two
articles on the subject.
